Video aims to boost recruitment of youngsters to the construction industry

Brian David Films of Lytham St Annes has completed a five-month project to create a video which aims to encourage more young people into the construction industry.

The video was commissioned by the Preston-based Eric Wright Group who wanted a film which they could use on their visits to schools, colleges and careers fairs across the north west.

“They wanted us to demonstrate the wide range and variety of careers on offer in the construction industry,” says Brian Hurst, producer with Brian David Films. “We aimed to capture some of the excitement of working on-site and being actively involved in a project’s successful completion.”

After detailed planning to establish exactly what the client required, Brian and his team began filming in January. They covered five key locations across Lancashire, where different constructions projects were underway, as well as the Head Office at Bamber Bridge.

The sites selected were chosen because of their complexity, and the diverse nature of roles being undertaken on such large projects.

“We were able to film people involved in construction, civil engineering, facilities management and other roles,” says Brian. “Most of the team members we interviewed were young people who would appeal to the target audience of the final product.”

The video will now be used by Ambassadors of the Eric Wright Group who visit schools and colleges to talk to students aged 11 to 19 about the roles available in the construction industry.

Phil Richardson, who led the project for Eric Wright Group, says: “The process went really well and we are delighted with the finished product.

“Brian and his team were very accommodating to our needs and made the staff involved feel very much at ease throughout the entire process.  We would definitely recommend and use Brian’s services again.”
